I am truly overwhelmed because our request to expand the reach of these symptoms was officially accepted. This result is entirely due to you taking a moment to pay attention to a cause that means so much to us. Please keep looking out for one another while we hold this …

During Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Sigma Alpha Omega Christian Sorority is dedicated to raising awareness for the often undetected disease. We are sharing this petition to encourage our sisters and their social media followers and friends to learn more about Ovarian Cancer, its symptoms, and the treatment for this cancer.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness has been Sigma Alpha Omega's national philanthropy since June 2, 2007 and this OCA month our sisters are excited to raise and recognize current fighters, survivors, and those that have lost their battle to ovarian cancer. 1 in 77 women will be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer during their lifetime. 70% of diagnoses don't occur until Stage 3 or 4, and surgery is required to accurately stage the cancer. Remember the acronym "BEAT" when thinking through symptoms:

(B)loating that is persistent

(E)ating less and feeling fuller

(A)bdominal pain

(T)rouble with your bladder

Know the symptoms and facts and share them with your friends and family this Ovarian Cancer Awareness month!

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stopped to learn about these symptoms alongside us. We are approaching a number I never imagined possible so please keep passing this information to your own circles.

So proud of my sisters for keeping this cause front and center. BEAT is such a simple way to remember the signs for anyone.

Lost my aunt to this last year. Way too many people ignore the symptoms until it is way too late. Glad you girls are getting the word out.
