As it stands now, The Janeway Children's hospital in St. John's only has 2 pediatric intensivists right now. One of these doctors is resigning in February. That leaves the burden of caring for our seriously ill children in the hands of one doctor. That is not going to work. Our governments solution is to fly children out of province for medical treatment. We still need a pediatric intensivist to even get children ready to fly if they are seriously injured or critical. Danny Williams can pay people to have childrenbut he cannot pay doctors to take care of our children. These doctors do not even qualify for the raise the government says doctors are getting because they do not have enough patients. The raise is based on the number of patients and paper work. Not many people know how vital pediatric intensivists are until they need them personally. If your child is seriously ill, would you want them to be treated immediately or be flown somewhere? When it comes to life and death, why take a chance on our children's lives? I think this is absolutely ridiculous for a HAVE province to not be able to retain vital doctors.Danny Williams has to do something to keep our doctors. If you agree with me, please sign the petition. The following is a link detailing exactly what a pediatric intensivist does: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-pediatric-intensivist.htm
