NYU should expand in accordance with the rules that apply to everybody else, in terms of bulk, height and public parkland.

In recent years, parks and open space in NYC have fallen prey to privatization and slashed budgets. As the population of our neighborhood grows & grows, we need parks more than ever. Parks are public, not private, open spaces. Given our huge population in NYC, we have very few parks, and to violate and surrender these spaces to developers, large institutions and private commercial entities, is nothing less than betrayal of the public trust.

Enough is enough. NYU cannot lay claim to public lands. They have brought sterility and sameness everywhere they touch. They must be brought under control.
Ruining my home town with fracking. Thanks Susan for fighting for our natural beauty GOD gave to us!

New York City obsessively protects buildings perceived as landmarks, it needs to turn it's attention to protecting the air and ground that we breath and walk on, the space where we relax, thrive and enjoy life, our parks, their preservation, restoration, creation and maintenance. NYU should also focus on being part of the community, instead of being part of the death of a community with a rich literary and creative history. Parks are vital to communities and to New York City. It can never be said that New York City has too many parks. Preserve the parks. NYU, refocus your goals. Rejoin the community instead of fighting it.

You can NEVER get that green space back if you let it go. Humans need it desperately.
