Petition to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board

Having spent a month in Israel (June) in studies at Tantur, I can testify to the ugly and unconscionable treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli government.

Education, from educare or educere, to lead, to support. We educators must take the lead in co-creating a more just, peaceful and humane world based on a very basic principle, often taught in kindergarten, "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you." We must invest in peace-making.

We need to model responsible global citizenship.

I do not wish to profit from the pain of others.

As teachers, we strive to teach peace and justice, not occupation and bombing schools, neighbourhoods, civilians. We teachers should be setting an example in divesting from those committing war crimes.

I'm really glad to see this action taking off - please keep up the momentum, as the present government of Israel is totally immoral and culpable of war crimes in this case.

Investing in something other than Lockheed Martin and Macdonald, Dettwiler makes good moral, social, environmental and economic sense. Kudos to Teachers for Palestine! Will share with friends who are teachers / plan members.

I demand you divest! Israel bombed homes, schools full of fleeing families, hospitals in Gaza recently. This is a people under occupation while Israel steals more of their land daily. They have no army, no navy, no air force. They are blockaded from escape. The Gaza open air prison becomes a shooting gallery during Israel's slaughterous "operations". Not one PENNY of my pension should go to Israel's war crimes.

Please divest immediately from the Israeli military machine

Imagine that Canada call itself the "Christian State", what typ eof state it will be. The Jewish state in a diversified land like Palestine is nothing but an Aparteid State, that has committed crimes against refugees it expelled out of their homes in 1948 and 1967 into Gaza.

Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza.

My hope is that the OTPP will conduct itself ethically and divest from oppression.

I am disgusted that Canada in any way is enabling apartheid of Palestinians, let alone supporting the military ease of the IDF to destroy thousands of Gaza homes.

As with the situation of Apartheid South Africa, Canadian pensioned teacher have an opportunity to continue to lead by their example in advocating for change and justice for the Palestinian people by divesting investments that support the Israeli occupation and economy.
