As it has been well documented worldwide, we wish to keep our community safe from implied and proven tactics to shelter those who claim refugee status in Canada.

This petition, in particular, is a rebuttal petition to stop Derek Giberson from presenting his petition to Oshawa City Counsel on November 9 to allow for 100 Syrian refugees to enter our community. For the most part, we, the residents of Oshawa, are quite sympathetic to their plight, but we feel that opening our community to these refugees is definitely NOT conducive to our lifestyle at this time. There are way too many hidden agendas that we cannot ignore or control, should some of them with ulterior motives, slip through the processing immigration cracks.

As residents of a city very close to Toronto, we want to be heard and acknowledged that our concerns are for the greater good. The residents here are concerned about our safety and the safety of children that will be obviously jeapodized should we elect to ignore all the warning signs of what is ACTUALLY happening in this 'war'. We need to have OUR Canadian rights noticed and honoured.

WE DO NOT WANT SYRIAN REFUGEES IN OUR COMMUNITY.

I implore all of you to sign this petition that I will take to the Oshawa City Counsel meeting on November 9, to make your voices heard to overturn any and all of those who think otherwise. It will not be in our best interest to support the petition to let these refugees become a part of our community at this time.

Please please please....think with your brains.....your heart and sympathies will do no good when we are facing those who want to rule our country under Sharia Law.

Let's show our support in this most humane way - for our Canadian citizens.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam but it just shows how many of us are on the same page about what is happening in our own backyards. People are finally waking up to the reality of the situation and seeing that we need to protect our neighborhoods before it is too late to turn back. I am honestly just floored by the momentum building right now because it proves that regular people are fed up with being ignored while these decisions are forced on us.

I do not think they will help Durham's economy or crime rate. We have enough people on welfare and people wanting hand outs in general right here in our own backyard. I'd rather help our own local unfortunate residents than help another country's.

There's a 2 to 3 year waiting list for people that need afortable housing and we're doing what with them. Either taking other people's spots who have been waiting years to get in or were building them there own complex and who's paying for that. Taxes are high enough. Try England.

Oshawa is not in any position to house these refugees. When there is a 5 year waiting list for residents to receive affordable housing and Oshawa can't even maintain the housing they have. So in my opinion, I think bring 100 refugees to Oshawa and not having anywhere to put them, or putting them priority before our own residents who are waiting for housing is ridiculous.

We have starving first nations who are the owners of this land - help them first . We have child poverty here - help them first. If Trudeau wants to bring them in let him pay for ALL of them himself with his Daddy's trust fund money!!

We are suffering already in the Durham area with lack of Housing. I have heard there's a 4 / 5 year wait for our own residents looking for affordable housing? How on earth can we possibly accommodate these people? It's not a fact of discrimination but that of our shortage to those that have lived here all their lives and enduring hardship, regarding a place to call " Home " Also, we have had a concerning shortage of Doctors in Durham in the last few years. To have good family Doctor today, is almost luxury whereas, years go, it was Never concern. Bringing these refugees to Durham will bring nothing but more strain on everyone in an area that is struggling with its own issues. We are being bullied into a situation that very few want in this country and with all the chaos going on in the world today, I believe there are so many other reasons to let us have a voice and be heard about our community and our safety.
