It's past time Val Kilmer was recognized for his brilliant portrayal of Doc Holliday!

My dad loved westerns, so when I bought Tombstone on DVD, I took it over & told him he owed it to himself to watch it. After he’d watched it, he called me & in response to my “hello”, he said “When it’s Oscar time, someone damn well better remember how to spell VAL KILMER!! I’ve seen a lot of actors play Doc Holiday, but he’s the only one who actually BECAME Doc Holiday!!!” He SO deserved a win for that role, & the fact that he wasn’t even nominated is nothing short of criminal. I sure hope whoever is driving this petition can let him know how we feel!!!

Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holiday was perfect, there most likely never will be another actor who portrays Doc Holiday so perfectly. Val Kilmer deserves some kind of a nod from the academy because him not to even be nominated was certainly an oversight without any doubt in my mind.

Sure, im 7 years too late but it really was a travesty. While we're at it how about his Jim Morrison role in the doors.

I love this movie , Was the best acting performance of Vals career in my opinion. I have seen a lot of his movies , but, he was the man in this one. Hope he gets the acknowledgment he deserves.

I love the film, one of the great westerns, a great cast, it would be hard to standout with such a group of accomplished actors but Val Kilmer did it with his portrayal of Doc Holliday, he actually stole the film without chewing scenery, the only role I can compare it to in modern cinema is Heath Ledger as the Joker, for Val Kilmer not to be nominated was shocking but not surprising, Val Kilmer is the unofficial winner in my book

If this injustice isn’t remedied than the Academy is just a phony TV show.

I liked Gene Hackman in Unforgiven but Val Kilmer played an iconic role that stands out as the best performance of all time in a western.
