It's unfortunate that OROP in vogue was taken away & pension of JCOs / OR was brought down from 70 Percent to 50 Percent clandestinely by Bureaucrats in 1973, with Our Politicians in Power closing their eyes to the issue without going into the background & intricacies of policy for same having been made at the time of independence. And cleverly, simultaneously in 1973, the bureaucrats did raise their pension from 30 Percent to 50 Percent. Since 1981 Col Inderjit Singh, ex IST NDA had been struggling Initially single handedly & met each of PMs / RMs / FMs, who did promise him to restore same. Unfortunately, none of them implemented. Possibly they knew / know that we from Services don't voice our grievances.

It doesn’t seem good on part of democratically government to back out of it’s commitment given at the floor of the House.

They have all the funds to give NFFU, fat salaries and allowances to civilians in 7th pay commission, but no money to give promised OROP. If the Govt is incapable of funding OROP, why not publivly and in parliament; admit its inability to pay. Ex-servicemen are magnanimous enough to forgive BJP for its false election promise.

Successive Government, including the present NDA Government, have been most unfair to The Indian Military as far as pay, allowances and pension is concerned. Mr Modi has gone back on his prepoll promise and Shree Amit Shah called it "Oh these are Elections Jumlas and need be fulfilled" - what a shameful statement.
It is mainly the IAS who is playing the cards - the politicians dont understand the game and just follow the advice of the IAS, which is always bent upon to keep the Indian Military at a lower pay scales then the IAS.
Mr Modi should stop the lip service of granting of OROP.
The Defence Services must be given OROP as per the definition approved by the two successive Government - UPA and NDA in 2014.

OROP in the real terms as approved by Parliament should be granted to ESM in the interest of justice.
Full OROP should be given as decided and as promised.
