section 27 of the Oregon Constitution is crystal clear, and in plain language. Those legislators that choose to allow 43 and laws like it to flourish, have violated their oaths and we have a duty to remove them from office by whatever means necessary.

I don't believe anyone has the right to infringe upon our amendments and disrespect what our founding fathers went through in order for this country to exist.

Besides the obvious constitutional violations, 43 is too broad in scope. It labels virtually all modern firearms as "Assault Weapons". It will be a waste of resources and difficult to enforce, creating even more of a bureaucracy and waste.

How this has remained a controversial topic is beyond me. Criminals with ill intent have no regard for the law and will obtain any weapon they want illegally to suit their purpose. Disarming law abiding citizens only weakens communities by creating an opportunity rich environment for criminals. As a Marine, I feel there are people whom lack the discipline and training to safely own any firearm, but I feel the same about many people whom possess a driver's license. Extreme stances will only further divide Americans. Try finding a compromise like weapons handling safety courses instead of banning firearms and both sides may find themselves in agreement. It is possible to create a more responsible community, but it is unrealistic to think anyone can prevent heinous crimes from this approach.

I am against 43, it will accomplish nothing in regards to preventing crime. Criminals will still exist and cause issues. Law abiding citizens will continue to be restricted from their ability to self defense.

I will not stand for the banning and forced registration of almost all firearms and the instantaneous creation of thousands of felons who did nothing wrong.

No new gun control, or gun laws. Guns are not the issue, you can't fix a people problem, with more useless gun laws
No attack on the 1nd amendment
I will vote no to 43
Absolutely NO to Petition 43!
Our unalienable rights are not up for vote!
