Opposition: West Virginia Religious Freedom Restoration Act

This bill is bad for people, business, and West Virginia.

This bill is an easy way to mask people's hate behind religion. Do not pass this.

WV is no place for hate. However, if you insist on passing this bill, I demand that business who will be exercising their "freedom" post signs so all will know.

The religion I practice is not your concern. The religion you practice is not my concern and never the twain shall meet. What you are proposing is unconstitutional.

This bill has nothing to do with religious freedom. It is all about legalized discrimination. It is bad for WV.

This bill is bad for business and bad for West Virginia. Jobs, drugs and education are issues we should be focused on NOT PASSING A LEGALIZED DISCRIMINATION BILL. Religious Freedom is already a constitutionally protected right. This is a direct push back to the progressions of LGBT rights and the passing of marriage equality. Our legislators should be focusing on making WV an attractive place for commerce and tourism.

This bill is founded in fear, hate, ignorance and misunderstanding. WV is better than this.

Please, I beg you not to pass this bill. As someone who is bisexual, transgender, and pagan, I worry constantly that I could be fired for one of the first two on a near-daily basis. This bill would virtually guarantee that I could be fired for all three, plus it would make my life much more difficult than it already is. Please, please, please, don't sign this discriminatory bill into law. There are already religious protections in place. This is simply an excuse to discriminate against the LGBT community.

There are do many reasons not to pass this bill, but I will add that WV will hemorrhage more young bright people even faster than we already are- and discourage many from visiting as well.

This bill will only serve to justify aggressively discriminatory acts and give rise to many ridiculous and unnecessary lawsuits.

Religious freedom is already guaranteed, please don't pass this discriminatory bill.

This bill is the most un-American piece of legislation I can imagine. It opens the doors to meanness, hate and ramped discrimination of anyone you feel is different. This bill is scary!

This bill is not necessary nor is it constitutional. It is anathema to separation of church and state. It will hurt the fragile WV economy and legalized discrimination will not stand.

Please oppose this bill. It is an unnecessary and misguided piece of legislation that will do more harm than good.
