Opposition to Townhomes on Baker Street

I oppose the townhome project on Baker Street. I reside at 242 Jarnigan Avenue.

This is a neighborhood of bungalow architecture that is representative of all Chattanooga needs to keep to retain charm. The streets involved cannot support increased traffic.

I'm signing this petition because multi family unit homes would make our streets traffic dangerous and because it is already condensed enough. No town homes on Baker/Jarnigan/Thompson, please!

The roads can't handle anymore traffic.

Adding this many units will create safety hazards. Our roads are already near capacity with Baker and Thompson already difficult to navigate. Additional cars parked on street will choke these roads even further, making it difficult/impossible for fire trucks and ambulances to respond to any emergencies in our area. Also, this development does not fit with the neighborhood at all. It is a modern glass and concrete structure in the middle of single family turn of the century style homes on small lots. It will be an eye sore and degrade the quality of our wonderful community. Quite simply, there is no room for this kind of development in our area.

I do not wish to have townhouses in my single home neighborhood. This neighborhood has opposed several building regulations and this is in the top two as with the four story ruling that just occurred in 2016(it was denied). We don't want it in our neighborhood.

This area is presently SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCES and has historically been thus. PLEASE DO NOT REZONE FOR TOWNHOMES. Inappropriate and incompatible use.

Thank you for advocating to preserve the safety and quality of life of our neighborhood!

This development has no place in this residential neighborhood.

Baker Street is not suitable and/or wide enough to sustain the traffic for this type of development. It also does not go along with the historic design and preservation of this community. I have extreme concern over emergency vehicles being able to pass through this area with the increased traffic it would have to sustain.

I am opposed to new construction of townhomes on Baker Street. The proposed development is out of character to the existing neighborhood. Emergency vehicle access and traffic is a long standing concern for all the current residents, adding to this would be unacceptable

Once again, a very dangerous situation which poses safety issues for residents, not to mention the code violations. There is limited pass- through already (width of road is not sufficient for two cars to pass without one of them moving into the parking lane).

I am deeply concerned with rezoning this area. Our traffic has consistently increased over the years and as a 15 year resident of this area, our streets are yet to be repaved. I am especially concerned with the current parking situation about the access of emergency first responders to our area.

This would be dangerous. No more development in this area. It is being ruined by profiteers.

I am gravely concerned about the safety issues this proposed development on Baker Street will create, especially with regard to emergency vehicle access to the neighborhood.

This development could not be more out of character of the neighborhood . Its appearance is ugly and suggestive of manufacturing space and imposes a severe parking and traffic load on two streets already marginally adequate to support existing residential and emergency traffic.

I am definitely against the building of these townhomes that are not compatible with Baker Street. Baker Street is a very narrow street and additional traffic would be disastrous.

Baker Street cannot handle more traffic - my 3 kids do not need more traffic to watch out for. The lot is on Tampa, not Baker. The developer should at the least have to have access via Tampa not Baker. Access via Tampa would have little impact on any surrounding homes.
