OPPOSITION TO TE RUNANGA O NGATI WHATUA SETTLEMENT

We the undersigned do not support the Ngati Whatua AIP OR; Deed of Mandate OR; Settlement Package.

We oppose for the following reasons:

  1. These negotiations have fundamental flaws and do not have the support of ALL affected hapu, marae and WAI claimants;
  2. The process taken by the Crown and Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua compromise our tino rangatiratanga as guaranteed in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

ACTION: We require that demonstrable consent of ALL affected hapu, marae and WAI claimants is gained before these negotiations progress any further.

SOME BACKGROUND: Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua hold a Crown recognised mandate to negotiate full and final settlement for ALL the Crown's breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi 1840 and include in their negotiations the following:

- Kaipara Moana Settlement

- Whangarei Harbour Rohe Moana

- Right of First Refusal over new fisheries quota

- Option to purchase properties in Marsden Point and North Shore

- Area of Interest

NOTE: If you sign the petition you are not opposing whakapapa and whanaungatanga with Ngati Whatua. This petition supports a move to hold Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua and The Crown accountable to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and He Whakaputanga.

The feedback from our hapu and marae continues to highlight deep concerns about the current mandate. We are documenting every WAI claim and story shared here to ensure our collective position remains clear to the Crown.

Oppose NW imposing their claim over Whangārei te Rerenga Paraoa. There has been no opportunity to co-design this with ngā wahapu o Whangārei te Rerenga Paraoa. Patuharakeke Takahiwai Marae Wai: 0745

No Te Wahapu O Hokianga ahau. The proposal for settlement is revisiting traditionally agreed tribal holdings and boundaries without discussion or agreement with affected tribes. I refer specifically to the Whangarei harbour, the Ngapuhi held Whangarei harbour.

I dispute you have the support of my hapu Ngati Pakau let alone all affected hapu. I didn't bargain for the process to concede my Tino rangatiratanga therefore I object to any agreement being reached without the mandate from all affected hapu, marae and wai claimants.

I stand with my whanau, hapu and Iwi - Patuharakeke. We oppose the mandate that is being put forward by Ngati Whatua. We have always been the kaitiaki of these lands and waterways.

I do not support the Ngati Whatua claim masoving forward as my hapu (Ngati Hau) is directly affected and have not been involved with any part of this while process and we are tangatawhenua of this rohe. This will remove my Rangitiratanga and I strongly oppose this mandate in its entirety.
