Opposition to Proposed Route 460 Alignment
We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed preferred alternative of the Route 460 project which includes a northern bypass around the Town of Windsor because the preferred alternative does not serve the purpose of a safe evacuation route through areas that historically flood between Ivor and Wakefield; the proposed alternative does not coincide with past, present, and future local comprehensive planning for long-term economic development; the proposed alternative vitiates the alleged purpose of protecting the wetlands and watersheds including the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement and the Clean Water Act due to the adverse effects of a long bridge on the proposed route crossing a broad portion of Lake Prince which supplies a significant amount of the drinking water supply for cities in Hampton Roads; and the wetlands study of proposed alternatives (SEIS) was flawed because it did not contain representations of the full range of the best possible alternatives, as required.
