The Oconee County Gun Coalition plans to ask the OC Board of Commissioners to enact a resolution making Oconee County a "Second Amendment Sanctuary County". Among other things, this means that the BOC would direct the Sheriff of Oconee County to "not enforce any unconstitutional firearm restrictions against any citizen".
The resolution does not specify who decides the constitutionality of any such laws. Historical precedent is that constitutionality of laws is decided by the court system, not local Sheriff's offices, County Commissioners, or special interest groups.

I am a firm believer in the 2nd amendment, but the Sheriff should enforce all laws.
No one should be able to choose which laws they want to obey or ignore.

The courts exist for a reason. Keeping our laws consistent is better for everyone than letting elected officials decide what counts as constitutional on the fly.
I am a firm believer in the 2nd amendment, but the Sheriff should enforce all laws.
