Opposition to Oconee County, GA becoming a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary
The Oconee County Gun Coalition plans to ask the OC Board of Commissioners to enact a resolution making Oconee County a "Second Amendment Sanctuary County". Among other things, this means that the BOC would direct the Sheriff of Oconee County to "not enforce any unconstitutional firearm restrictions against any citizen".
The resolution does not specify who decides the constitutionality of any such laws. Historical precedent is that constitutionality of laws is decided by the court system, not local Sheriff's offices, County Commissioners, or special interest groups.
By signing this petition, you are stating that you disagree with any such resolution, that the constitutionality of any law is decided by the court system, and that the Sheriff of Oconee County should continue to enforce all state and federal laws unless a court places an injunction or strikes a law down.
