Monopoly...... Much smarter than buying a hotel or three.... Get 10% of almost all hotels, buy out the competition bully owners into releasing all rooms to them and then ratchet up the price..... We need alternatives

first they buy out the competition (hostelbookers), then they increase the rates - which of course the custumer pays in the end. overall dodgy tactics - the awards are not based on custumer reviews anymore and their commission is called 'deposit' to further bullshit the guest booking through them.

...at the end the costumer will have to pay it..so this regards everyone who wants to travel and books vie Hostelworld or Hostelbookers

This is another one of many 'shaftings' including us being ranked below hotels on their sites that manipulate pricing to appear cheaper, etc, etc.

This is not an option. Finding hostels should be easy and fun, no extra charge should be included. Hostelworld and booking.com just lost one customer!

Hostelworld severely neglects the financial reality of hostel owners as their cooperation partners.
