As a resident of the Town of Wilson, I respectfully but firmly urge the Town Board to VOTE AGAINST permitting ATV/UTV operation on any Town of Wilson roads. My concerns are as follows:

  1. Public Safety: Town roads have narrow shoulders and no sidewalks, posing serious risks to pedestrians and cyclists.
  2. Shared Roads: Roads shared with the City of Sheboygan are closed to Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) operation, creating dangerous inconsistencies.
  3. Enforcement Gap: With no local police department, enforcement would rely solely on the DNR(State Statutes) and Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department(Town Ordinances).
  4. Licensing & Insurance: Wisconsin does not require a driver's license or insurance for ATV/UTV operation.
  5. OWI Loophole: An OWI on an ATV results only in a fine and does not appear on one's driving record — a serious public safety concern.
  6. Manufacturer Warnings: Vehicle manufacturers explicitly advise against operating ATVs/UTVs on paved roads.

The Board's primary duty is public safety — not accommodating recreational convenience at the community's expense. Please VOTE NO.
