Opposite for lunch

I understamd the school's concerns but this rule is equally insensible as it is sensible

It obviously has a lot of flaws. Clearly, the principal and staffs did not bother thinking this through

Dear mr Ron Low How about the poor ice cream man He has a family to support, probably parents who are too old to work, and children who are too young to work Do you honestly want to deprive him of a otherwise rich business that he would originally have? Think of his poor starving family and children. Think of him turning to other ways to earn money, like loans or drugs Do u want him to turn to such a life? Do u want him to suffer like this? What if selling ice cream was the only source of income his entire family has. Would you be responsible for his newfound poverty? Save the ice cream man

Honestly, this new rule is absurd. First and foremost, is the welfare of the school vendors. They are already aged; They come to school at about 6:30+ and with the new rule implemented, they could be staying in school up to 6 pm just to serve food since we can't go anywhere else other than the canteen. They'll probably have to buy xtra ingredients just to feed 1000+ students (including teachers) which cost more money. So why not, we let them rest. This is my opinion and I might be wrong so do pardon.

There is just not enough space for the whole school to fit into the canteen and some of us will not even get our food. Besides that, i believe teachers will also not be able to leave the school for lunch (Since its the school rule), which will also cause the canteen to be more packed.

Canteen vendors are all more or less aged. They come to school early in the morning before some of us even, at around 6am just to provide our breakfast. Now you're asking them to stay till 3.30 to provide for our tea break too? Really! Let them go home and rest. I'm speaking this in the welfare of the elderly anyway, not in the name of the school rule.

This rule is ridiculous. The vendors have been INFORMED to prepare more food for lunch, but are they willing to spend more money ordering more food/ingredients from suppliers (thus losing money) and also okay with working longer hours? They arrive at 7am everyday and work so hard and now they are expected to stay till 6pm just in case anyone needs food? Aren't they human too? Don't they need to go back home to their families and rest too? Secondly, one reason that was given for this rule is that our safety is concerned. I understand that some students have a habit of jaywalking, but this problem can be easily solved with disciplinary action. It is not fair to punish a thousand students just because of a few bad apples. It also demonstrates a lack of trust in us students; we are already teenagers, not primary school students. We cross the road to the MRT, cross the road back home, so why can't we be trusted to do such a normal, everyday thing of life just right outside the school gates? Lastly, it is plainly unrealistic. The basis of this rule right now is that we (mostly the upper sec) are late for SSP due to going out for lunch. If we aren't allowed to do so anymore, the canteen would be super crowded as we are including the LOWER SEC (who usually don't have SSP but CCA that starts 2 hours late). YES there will be more food, but there will also be LONGER QUEUES and the SAME PACE of food being served as before. By then, we will be late for our lessons not because of going out, but of queueing. How is this fair to students? Is it really reasonable?

We are already secondary school, and we dont have our freedom? Scholars and leaders and we cant even lead ourselves to just walk out of sch, eat lunch and come back?

having only one recess, the queue is already so long. imagine having all 4cohorts tgt in ONE canteen, even if we get our food it will be 30mins later and we will still be scolded for being late for ssps. food is also always not enough and we wont be able to get to sit down at a table as the canteen is too small. asking vendors to cook more food and us getting out to eat, is it just the same logic and same amt of money spent??

Even after making sure there will be more food for us to eat, a lot of us will still be late for cca and ssp because there will be super long queues. It doesnt solve the problem, only makes it worse

The vendors cant work longer hours as well!! Most of them are old and should get the rest they deserve.

How about teachers (including both principals) share recess timings and lunch timings with us (esp upper sec)? Lunch only 2-2.30 after that no more? Who would think the canteen can fit 4 cohorts for lunch and expect us to finish lunch? And the principals even reject parents complains without reading through the pointers thoroughly? Really?

our canteen is not the school hall. who in the right frame of my would think that over 1k students can fit into that canteen and ALL of them managing to have their lunch WITHIN 30 minutes. this rule is insane. cmon zhss, we are old enough to at least CROSS the road and MANAGE the time allocated to us for lunch. please don't be so irrational thank you

the parants could just tell their child not to go out and eat instead of the school to set this rule and make the whole school suffer. many people would just not eat lunch.we are old enough to watch out for our safety thus this rule souldnt be set just because of a few students.

WHAT ABOUT THE BBT SHOP UNCLE

Even if you prepare more food and have food vending machines, the canteen cannot physically fit the entire school during lunch break. So to combat that, are you going to expand the canteen and waste even more money?

There simply isn't enough time for the whole school, Sec 1-4, to have their meals in the canteen.

this rule is really crossing the line so what if some parents complain? I dont think u have the right to have us kept in school the entire year or worse yearS for our juniors during our breaks

This rule is really unnecessary.
