The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, unlike any of the previous military budget bills enacted over the past 48 years, authorizes the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens on American soil who are accused or suspected of supporting terrorism. This bill goes too far. This petition is designed to call attention to the bill by professional members of the legal community in order to oppose its draconian and unconstitutional measures.
