On Wednesday, January 23, 2013, Northwestern's Associated Student Government (ASG) will be voting on a proposal to endorse President Barack Obama's gun control plan.  While we all share the desire to establish a safer world for both ourselves and those around us, not everyone may agree that gun control is the solution.  We, the undersigned, regardless of political ideologies or personal opinions about the gun debate, wish to remind ASG that its mission is "to connect Northwestern by bringing communities and resources together," a purpose that does not condone partisan endorsements or any form of political discrimination at an institution that celebrates a diverse range of political ideologies.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained. It is truly humbling to see so many people come together to remind our representatives about the importance of staying neutral. This movement belongs to all of you.

So tired of the constant bias. Just leave it alone.

TOTAL OVERREACH. ASG has no business pushing an agenda on the rest of the student body.

Stick to the mission statement. This is exactly why people stop paying attention to student government.

ASG needs to stay in their lane and focus on student issues not national politics. Keep the government out of our business.

Why are they wasting time on this? Focus on the campus and stop trying to be a political party.
