Due to the exorbitant expense (estimated at $33+ million dollars of public funds), the creation of "assessment districts" (with related homeowner assessments), the limited scope of the project favoring only the highest priority areas comprised of a few streets in town (while ignoring the rest of the town including all alleys), I am generally opposed to the implementation of the City's Utility Undergrounding Master Plan.

Please abort the Utility Undergrounding Master Plan Implementation and look into better ways to spend public funds.

The city council continues to push this master plan despite the clear financial burden it places on our community. Email your representative today to demand they cancel these unnecessary homeowner assessments. Tell them you will not support spending millions on a project that ignores most of our streets.

June 22, 2019

The momentum behind this opposition is undeniable and it proves that our neighbors refuse to accept these unnecessary utility assessments. Call your city council representative today to demand they scrap the Master Plan and stop wasting our money.

This project is wrong on so many levels. The creation of "Assessment Districts", especially when sending out questionnaires city wide and then customizing the "districts" using those results; is a blatant "end-around" to circumvent the will of the majority of residents. If you want to do this, have a city-wide referendum; if it passes let's do it (but you know it won't).

The project costs so much, places too much burden on homeowners, especially families that have lived here for years. It could put people in risk of losing their homes to increase the home values of some of the most expensive homes already. I am opposed.

I live in the Coronado Cays which was built with utilities underground. It is not equitable to spend $33M+ of public funds to benefit homeowners on a few streets in town. These public funds could be better spent on projects that would benefit all, not only a select few. I also do not support the removal of many trees to underground utilities.

the most dangerous part of this process is the final vote of citizens in the public meeting only needs to have "more yes votes than no votes" to pass. (not a majority of homeowners in the district)(2 people could vote yes if 3 people were in attendance and screw the rest of us.

Use the money somewhere else

It’s unconscionable to spend this amount of money on something I would consider frivolous and cosmetic when we have true issues like traffic and overdevelopment that are crippling this town.

Would love to have undergrounding but the cost is too great. What's wrong with SDGE picking up the tab. Many old wires are in need of replacement anyway and they need to provide the vehicle to deliver service to their customers. We need better negotiators.

There is NO history of safety issues related to overhead power lines in Coronado; Far too many areas, including all alleys, would NOT be included; and the exorbitant cost would be a dreadful waste of taxpayer funding.
