No Cannabis retail should be allowed in this area where small kids and teenagers will be exposed to the Cannabis especially there are many elementary and secondary schools located close to this location.

The Edmonds community is a vivid and growing community, and we have many young children, teenagers, and seniors living here. As I mentioned earlier the location of the cannabis store is just opposite to the Tommy Douglas Public Library(less than 150m), and only two blocks away from the Edmonds community center and parks. Thus, its negative impact on the local residents, especially to the children and seniors, cannot be ignored. Researches have shown the use of cannabis will increase the likelihood of impaired driving (Reference 1), and adjacent areas of cannabis store saw about 84 more property crimes per year than neighborhoods without a nearby cannabis store (Reference 2). As a mother, the last thing I want to see is to put my children in danger on our way to the community library, community center, and parks. I sincerely appreciate my children and other residents can feel secure and safe while we're enjoying daily life in our community, therefore I am opposed to the opening of a legal cannabis store at 7360 Kingsway, where is the center and heart of our Edmonds community.

I too am concerned about the Location at Kings Crossing. Aside from the concerns expressed, I am also concerned as the location is immediately below the children’s play area at Kings Crossing.

Your Reference 2 says:
"Independent of the effects of covariates, densities of marijuana outlets were unrelated to property and violent crimes in local areas. However, the density of marijuana outlets in spatially adjacent areas was positively related to property crime in spatially adjacent areas over time. "
This clearly says if it opens in the local community there were NO relations between the store and crime rates. But it does say adjacent neighbourhoods property crime rates are related.
So if anything, you should let the outlet open in your local area because it's "safer" that way.

Oppose this proposal as our kids are upstairs plus there is not enough parking in front of the store. More importantly, prospects from the whole province would have come to buy and smoke and noises will definitely go upstairs with out supervision to qualify the buyers and smokers. Thus, the resale value will drop a great deal for the property. Nobody had been informed about the OCP before purchasing the property. Please take ours into a serious consideration.
