I remember when i was in KINDERGARTEN, i was dress coded because i had a tank top on. i was 6 years old and i was already getting sexualized. i was dress coded again by a male vice principal and as a person who’s been molested at 11 and 12 years old, i was incredibly uncomfortable and honestly terrified because i’m very sensitive to situations like these. plus, i don’t think any male in the davis school district is going to stop their learning because my shoulders and knees are visible.

While it’s true, we don’t have uniforms, very few public schools actually do require uniforms. School should be a place where we can express who we are, a big part of that is how we dress.

In this day and age people should be free to express themselves how they choose. It doesn’t help that students who are within the guidelines still get infractions by biased staff
