OPPOSE SB 1146 TODAY
SB 1146 is a License to Discriminate Against FAITH-BASED Colleges.
Chris Holden Assemblyman District 41 voted FOR SB 1146 on June 30th, 2016.
SB 1146 is a direct assault on the 1st amendment. As it is written, FAITH-BASED Colleges in California will no no longer be able to limit admission of students or employment of people of their particular religious faith, nor would these schools be able to maintain certain conduct, housing and other policies according to their faith convictions. This is not acceptable.
The bill could be used to require a FAITH-BASED College to hire faculty and staff who do not hold to to the schools beliefs. This is not acceptable.
SB 1146 could deny access to low-income students by withholding Cal Grants from students who want to attend FAITH-BASED colleges and universities in California. This is not acceptable.
SB 1146 denies the exercise of our religious freedoms, freedoms guaranteed by the constitutions of the State of California and the United States. This is not acceptable.
Today - Discrimination looms for FAITH-BASED Colleges.
Tomorrow - High Schools, Junior Highs, and Grammar Schools could be next if AB 1146 is signed into law by Governor Brown.
We encourage all to sign our petition but in particular we want to galvanize opposition from Assembly District 41 and the Cities of Pasadena, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Altadena, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, Claremont, Upland, San Antonio Heights, Rancho Cucamonga.
