If you release someone as violent as this man without serving his full sentence, I will lose all faith in the South African Justice system. Men such as this serve as an example to the community that acts of gender based violence will not be tolerated.. The impact that this crime has had not only on the victim should not be taken lightly and the community deserve to know that their safety is of paramount importance.

I have given this situation considerable thought and wish to comment on the following.
Are the Parole Board satisfied that the prisoner has demonstrated sufficient remorse and control his desires?
Ha the victim been contacted by the Parole Board

I strongly oppose bail for this individual. Trust in the justice system and accept that the sentence given was the sentence earned. He needs to stay in prison. There is no way that someone who has not even served half of his sentence is ready to reenter society, especially not for a brutal crime such as this. The rates of recidivism in South Africa are exponentially higher than in other countries because people like this are given their freedom before they have made any form of reparations for their crimes. No bail.

This is simply not how justice should work. As a convicted rapist and someone who intended to take the life of another, he should not be granted parole. GBV is rampant in this country, and people need to understand that appropriate punishment is meted out to those who break the law.

Keep him in jail. It is where he belongs. We have enough bad guys roaming our streets of Greyton and negatively affecting our daily lives.

To serve less than the full sentence (of only 10 years) for a heinous crime like this would be unjust
