According to the CDC: Surgical masks “Does NOT provide the wearer with a reliable level of protection from inhaling smaller airborne particles and is not considered respiratory protection: According to a study by the Global National Security & Policy Institute: “Those wearing cloth masks were 13 times more likely to experience influenza-like illness than those wearing medical mask” (COVID-19 is classified by the CDC as an influenza-like illness)
“The only time a cloth mask may be marginally effective is when the user is coughing or sneezing. On the contrary it provides the wearer little protection from microorganisms expelled from others who are infected with respiratory diseases.”
“Surgical/procedure masks are intended to help put a barrier between the wearer and the work environment or sterile field. They may help keep saliva and mucous generated by the wearer from reaching a patient or medical equipment. They can also be used as a fluid barrier to help keep blood splatter from reaching the wearer’s mouth and nose. They are not respirators and do not offer any respiratory protection for particles less than 100 microns and are only intended for splash protection.” (For reference, 100 microns is the equivalent of 100,000 nanometers, and the COVID-19 virus particle is only 120nm)
The conclusion of the study: “While wearing a mask is an individual’s choice, understanding the level of protection and transmission is key. These masks offer no additional protection compared to the common-sense public health measures of social distancing, and, most importantly, frequent hand washing”

Mask wearing needs to remain a personal choice.
During this whole COVID-19 thing, there has only been 5 or 6 people at one time in Cox or Mercy, until recently. When I checked a couple days ago, it had risen to 15 or 16 people, but 15 or 16 people do not warrant making the whole town wear masks!
It needs to remain an individuals free choice!

I am opposed to mandated mask wearing. It is extreme overreach of government authority. Masks should be by choice.

As a law abiding citizen, I'm forced to take a ticket or carry my forearm. As a free American I proudly practice my second amendment right. But it is a federal law that you can't wear masks while armed with a firearm.

I strongly oppose a government mandate to make wearing a mask in public a legal requirement. All this will do is further the division and distrust between government and citizens as well as create greater animosity among the citizens towards each other.

The mandate is 100% unnecessary in this area and takes away our rights. If people want to wear a mask they can choose to, those that don’t want to should also be able to choose not to.
