Mandating masks is a joke. It's my right to choose not to.

Mandatory masks shouldn’t be allowed it should be our own choice to wear them or not. Some of us have medical conditions that masks make worse but can’t get a dr note for. You don’t know everyone’s story. For me it triggers bad anxiety and makes my breathing worse so more likely to pass out from it.

I work in the medical field and feel that each person should have a choice and our rights are taken away when we’re forced to wear a mask. We do not wear masks in my office except w our high risk patients. We don’t feel that it’s roght to force people to have one when they enter our business either.

Given the very low mortality figures in the region the mask mandate is over-reaching. This will place a burden on small business owners who will be required to enforce the ordinance. Also customers are likely to visit nearby towns (without the mandate) rather than spend their money locally at businesses who have already been devastated financially this year. Local businesses may feel obligated to spend money on masks to offer to their customers rather than lose out on revenue from those who do not already have one. We do not have the numbers to support this.

as a healthy adult with an uncompromised immune system it is more dangerous to my health to wear a mask as stated by WHO and CDC as well as where I work we are far beyond the social distance guidelines and unnecessary. We follow sanitation guidelines and have had zero issues throughout this entire 'pandemic '.

Masks are not the answer.

This should be personal choice. 'You' don't get a flu shot for me, you get it for you, so stop trying to sell me that you wear a mask for me. This is personal choice, I respect your space, so there's no need to mandate what I do.

I can't work 10 hours with a mask on. If you feel sick stay home.

I would rather have another shut down as opposed to wearing a mask.

This is not just a mask mandate. Check the entire proposal, as it also limits gathering numbers for weddings, funerals and business. This is effectively going backwards in limiting fiscal recovery.

All evidence is showing that the only time a mask is at all helpful is for a person who is sick with the virus and showing symptoms to not spread it. There is no benefit to anyone for healthy people to wear a mask. There are, however, detriments to it. People rebreathe their own exhaust. They can't breathe as well, and therefore can'ft function as well. People are dehumanized by covering their face. If the masks worked, then people who are wearing them would be safe and wouldn't need to worry about other people wearing them. If they don't work, there is no reason to push for people to wear them. This is nothing more, or less, than a control mechanism to show the citizens that they must be in compliance rather than free.

Notice that family members are not transferring this to each otheR & not wearing masks around each other. I personally think those with immune systems are getting & some through carriers.

I’m not opposed to a 2 to 4 week mask mandate. But this ordinance is not just about masks and it’s for 90 days. It will devastate the Springfield wedding industry. And the weddings will still happen but in surrounding counties. People will still get together… And generally speaking most of these are families… They’re choosing to get together and they’re going to do it wherever they can. Unlike other industries, once this is lifted, our business will not come back. At least not immediately… Weddings are planned months in advance and when they see three months on this ordinance the rest of the wedding season will cancel… Most of them... we are being crippled for the entire wedding season with this mandate. And not getting much in the way of financial help. Weddings benefit Springfield greatly… Most vendors pay sales tax, their guests go to restaurants, shop, rent Airbnb‘s… It’s a significant industry that I hope will be considered.

I am opposed to the mask mandate. First it is an infringement on my freedom and second, as one who has asthma, there are times that a mask makes it harder to breathe and I am unable to wear one it causing me to gasp and cough. It should not be forced on anyone to wear a mask.
