Oppose Lincoln Expansion and Save Our Playground

Ridiculous and outrageous spending of money that should go to CPS schools that are more overcrowded.

I object to the lack of transparency to the taxpayers in the neighborhood. This was done behind closed doors. Even if the decision were to be the same, the neighborhood should have been part of the decision.

Lincoln should not double its capacity. Pick up and drop off is already a nightmare and would be made worse for those living in the vicinity. I live in Old Town, and LaSalle is across from my house.

Safety issues abound with this expansion.

Expanding Lincoln is a bad idea made possible by bad politics by people who do not have to live with the consequences.

The playground is space used by all ages to play basketball, hit tennis balls against the wall, learn to ride a bike, a game of catch. These are all activities the playground is used for that will be lost. Kids have little space for that in the city, why take more of it away?

There is a better way

Spend on schools that need it more!!!

Save the playground!

A prodigious misuse of public funds to benefit a few, well off friends of the alderwoman. The very definition of cliquish entitlement!!

I oppose Lincoln school expanding onto the playground. I went to Lincoln, and from Kindergarten all the way until 8th grade, I always used the playground. I would spend time there with my friends, play games, and sometimes wait there to get picked up. With the playground gone, all of that would disappear. There are alternate solutions to fix overcrowding at Lincoln that wouldn't take away a key part of its identity and what helped me create my identity.

Doubling the population at Lincoln, the densest school in LP, while eliminating its playground for over 1000 elementary school and neighborhood children, is the worst response imaginable to overcrowding at Lincoln. No wonder this plan was hidden from the public until it was a "done deal". It is Chicago politics at its worst!

This is absolutely essential, and an abuse by some people with money.

This should be discussed openly before presented as a done deal and the 'best' solution to an over crowding problem.

The Lincoln School Annex is fraught with unintended cons. There is no traffic plan and will undoubtly make a bad situation much worse. In an unstable economic environment for the Chicago Public School system, surely an expenditure of a couple of million at several schools would make a loy more sense and would be more equitable than $16,000,000 at one school. Why cannot the community be involved in this process? This whole program is being Rahmmed down our throat.

As long as Alcott is a mere three blocks north, another fine school with an active parent body is under utilized and below capacity, I see no reason to put such a burden on the Lincoln neighborhood with this ill conceived,

This is a terrible and ill conceived plan tat will permanently eliminate precious open space in our city and add to the intolerable level of traffic and congestion in the neighborhood. What a shame that it was decided behind closed doors.
