The proposed location of this center is a very bad idea. As others have commented the traffic on Providence Road is already terrible, particularly at peak hours. The "Traffic Study" results that were shared were not accurate as on any given day one can see how heavy the traffic actually is. There are no commercial facilities on that side of the road anywhere in that section of Providence Road, in the Arboretum and we need to keep this section of Providence Road residential not add a commercial property that will make an already horrible traffic situation even worse.

Don't we have enough problems on Providence Road?

I think the addition of a daycare, or any large business for that matter at this location is a terrible idea. It will surely create a traffic nightmare for the residents of candlewick and providence springs who are trying to turn out of an already BUSY cross street onto providence road. I would only think it work work in if you did not allow traffic to cross providence to enter the center. Would not want to see any additional accidents there, especially involving children. There was just a bad accident there that wiped out the brick "Providence Springs" sign a week ago.

If we poll the community in the area, a major concern, if not the most pressing concern, is the increasing traffic congestion on Providence road as it approaches Pineville-Matthews Highway especially at peak hours. Moreover, there are significant safety concerns. We expect our city leaders to address the issue effectively and certainly not exacerbate it. The proposed Kiddie Academy will invariably have a dramatic adverse impact on congestion and poses increased safety risks for all especially children. Because of structural issues in area the proposed business idea is fundamentally flawed and cannot be effectively addressed by cosmetic modifications.

Please consider the children before building something in a busy area of town Oma very busy street. Very unsafe location for any building designed to house children of any age.

The addition of cars turning onto Providence Rd. near Springs Farm Lane will undoubtedly increase traffic accidents. Sadly, such incidents will likely involve small children.

Not nearly the best use for this property. Creates even more traffic and safety concerns for the area and our community.

I think that this is such a bad location for this type of business. This traffic light gets so backed up during rush hour. It seems like an extremely poor choice to exasperate an already bad situation!

Huge safety and traffic concern. Not the right zone use for this property!

This will make an already difficult traffic situation worse and will force cars and parking into the surrounding neighborhoods. The zoning board should take into consideration the concerns of area residents who do not want this facility. It will have a negative impact on home values, safety and quality of life. Unlike the petitioner, we have to live with the results of this decision on a daily basis.

Having a business there will be a nightmare for all parties involved.

I am strongly opposed to this rezoning as I believe it will negatively affect traffic and home values.

Very concerned about safety at intersection of providence and springs farm that is already unsafe at rush hour. Adding additional traffic at that location will ensure additional accidents

Thank you Thor for this effort. This project violates the criteria of "benefiting the community" which is required under the Charlotte Zoning Code to rezone the area to an Urban Residential zoning classification from its current residential R-3 classification. Mr . Driggs requested us to describe a "public policy" reason for denying the requested zoning change. It is embedded in the Charlotte Zoning Code itself.
