Hum, interesting approach - therefore you would propose that because an eco system has been injured due to pollution that its not worth saving ? Why is it that only salt water is worth saving ? Its not that one is more important than the other, its because we live in a community that is dominated by the Narragansett Bay, therefore all of the special interest groups and advocacy is focused on the Bay. Who is standing up for the fresh water fish, turtles waterfowl, etc ? Every single freshwater living creature should be saved and transplanted ! NOT 1 PENNY OF RATE HIKES SHOULD BE USED FOR THE DAM REMOVAL !

BCWA has neglected the entire reservoir system. Kickemuit, Shad, Anawan reservoirs as well as the pipes and treatment we left to go fallow when the cross bay pipeline went in. They were mandated to maintain a secondary source ......and did not. Their latest plan is to abandon the Anawan reservoir in Rehoboth

How is this even a good idea ? If the water company was pro-environment they would have maintained the DAM. Only now that they have failed DEM inspections and must pay fines they want to become "environmentalists" and restore to its organic state ! There have been dam structure there for 500 years. This ecosystem is a very unique and treasured resource - we are surrounded by salt water - time to stand up for what is right and stop the reversal of our world at the hands of corporate greed and corruption. Where in the world is the elected officials on this problem ? ??

Yes there is damage, but there is also a responsible way to stop/minimize the spread of the pollution in to Mt Hope Bay, save the habitat, species and address the historical and religious interests of the area., not to mention the very real flooding issues for those residents !

I attended several of the water company meetings. They do not care what happens to the community, all they care about is increasing profit margin. ITS ABOUT TIME THE COMMUNITY STOOD UP TO THIS "AUTHORITY" !

The damage is already done. I have fished here for years as a child and an adult. This year while I was fishing I noticed a lot of turtles on the road around schoolhouse road area. The reason was blue shell crabs have infested the water and killed most of the species in that water already.

When do companies stop passing on thexcost of their mistakes to citizens. And they want to pollute the bay on top of that.

The risks identified are to critical and significant, and an audit should be conducted to assess the level of negligence of the water co that put us in this position today !

Negligence, on behalf of the BCWA, for decades of not addressing the required maintenance should not be shamelessly made the burden of the home/landowners that will be affected.
