Chronic pain patients already have trouble getting their prescriptions filled. A further reduction in production of opiates only hurts patients. It will not reduce the amount of drugs diverted.

As a fibromyalgia sufferer , reducing pain meds will greatly impact my life for the negative. Because there are a group of people who are addicts, do not punish those of us who sincerely need pain meds to function .

I suffer from chronic pain. This must STOP! Punishing patients because of the poor choices of others is not the answer!

People who want to abuse drugs will always find a way to get them on the streets or where ever. Why should people like me who take Opioids only when I absolutely need to due to my RSD/CRPS nerve pain, Fibromyalgia pain, TOS, Inflammatory Polyarthritis, chronic somatic disfunction in all of my spine, neck, and chest, and other chronic pain, suffer in pain or have a shortage of supply of meds that I need to manage my pain & stay out of the ER. Most chronic pain patients try, like myself, try not to take pain meds unless it is a last resort & do not take them to get high. I hate the side effects of Vicodin, but if my pain gets to an 8 or 9, I have to take it, just to try to deal with the pain. Why are the ones who actually need the pain meds & do not abuse them, get punished for those who buy them to get high. If someone wants to get high, they will buy Opioids off the streets. We as pain patients are not the abusers & we have a right to pain medication if our doctor can see & knows we need pain meds. It is hard enough to get a dr to prescribe them, and now to limit production more? I cannot afford to go to the ER 2 times a week, plus most ER drs dont believe we are in pain anyhow & do not prescribe any pain meds but tylenol, so we already know the ER isnt worth our time. Our primary, specialist & pain drs know we are in pain & have diagnosed us & they should be able to prescribe us pain meds if they think we need them.

Dont punish the chroniclly Ill patients who abide by Dr's orders and need medication to get relief from 24 hour pain because others abuse the system. If a criminal uses a gun to rob people are you taking away all the guns from those who lawfully use them?

I have nearly full body RSD/CRPS and the pain completely controls every aspect of my life. Without the combination of medications my doctors and I have finally developed to ease many of my symptoms, especially pain, I would have zero quality of life, what little I have. People with real, true pain conditions, who see their doctor regularly and follow every rule should NOT be punished because they live in constant, nonstop pain.

The only reason I have 50% quality of life is due to my pain medication. I have 9 broken vertebrates in my spine, they are compression fractures. I also have RSD my right leg, Osteoarthris and fibromyalgia. For the time I have left to live, please keep me out of chronic pain. Please stop this Proposal on Reduced Opoid Production. I had 4 doctors tell me, I will live with chronic pain the rest of my life. Thank you for reading this...Blessings to you...

The Board of Directors of the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) has passed a resolution opposing this additional proposed reduction. The "opioid epidemic" will not be solved by a reduction in opioid supply, but will adversely hurt the accessibility to appropriate opiate therapy for people suffering with chronic pain.

There is no cure for RSD/CRPS my late Dr. Gutman described this disease as "The Hitler of All Diseases" if he can describe it like that it's because he knows and sees the burning alive is what it is! Don't take the medications away for those of us who really do need it.
