I'll never forget my freshman year first day of school pepfest. As I'm guessing many others can say the same. I remember sitting there surrounded with all the cheering, games/contests, and excitement. I remember telling myself in that moment that I wanted to be remembered when I left this school, I wanted people to know who I was because of positive actions that I would partake in. I knew I wanted to make the school a better place. I felt this way because of the school spirit that I saw displayed at this first day of school pepfest. I was amazed by how much the students loved their school and I was just so excited to be a part of this experience. I know that some freshman might not have thought the same way as I did my freshman year. But what if there are some that are? That pepfest showed me what our school was all about... Unity, watching grades come together, I knew I wanted to be a part of that. It kills me to hear that the pepfest is being moved, solely because of this experience that I had on my first day, freshman year. I want more freshman to feel this way, I want them to see how fun our school is and I want them to want to be a part of that. The first day of school pepfest shows kids how it should be, exciting, supportive, interactive of fellow classmates. This pepfest means more than you may know, please let it stay on the first day.

The pepfest held on the first day every school year is something that I have always loved and something that my classmates have also loved since the first time we set foot in Jefferson as freshman. I have no memory of feeling intimidated by any of the seniors when I was a freshman or any other year, especially during the first day pepfest when everyone is full of school spirit. Ever since we were freshman, we have looked forward to chanting "seniors seniors!" on the fist day of school. It is a great way to get the freshman excited about being a part of Jefferson! The pep fest needs to be on the first day of school to start the year on a good note and to keep the school spirit at Jefferson alive! Without school spirit what's the point? New technologies like chrome books for every student are great, but should not have to take away our school spirit. The chrome books will be just as useful if they are handed out on the second day of school! The pepfest starts off the year in so many amazing ways and should especially not be taken away from us seniors, who have looked forward to it since freshman year.

I think we should have the pep fest the first day of school because it gets people motivated to come to school on the first day and I believe it's a tradition that should be held for many years to come.

Jefferson has struggled to have school spirit over the years. We are just starting to gain that school spirit back, so why take it away again? The opening day pepfest was never intended to create fear in the freshman, it's to get them excited about going to Jefferson. Without that first day pepfest, the start of their careers at Jefferson may just be lackluster. For years the pepfest has been held on the first day, becoming one of the only traditions we have at our school. Please don't change the one thing we have all looked forward to our entire high school career here at Jefferson!
