We are using OpenCL for delivering portable multicore/GPU-accelerated SAR image processing. We instructed our customers, partners and students to stop buying NVidia and move to other solutions to fully take advantage of the work we are doing. No more NVidia untill OpenCL 1.2/2.0 will be fully supported.

Not having OpenCL 1.2 or higher will require me to dump my Nvidia hardware and purchase new AMD Radeon hardware. I've been a huge Nvidia supporter for many years but with the lack of interest for what we want is making me change my mind.

NVidia must also support OpenCL 1.2 over a wide range of devices.

NVIDIA makes great hardware and I for one believe they would benefit from supporting OpenCL now more than ever. CUDA is a great technology and I believe it was superior to OpenCL in the past (pre OpenCL 1.2). Now however, with support gathering for the OpenCL standard and more and more chips supporting it, it seems futile to me to hold on to a proprietary protocol. Please choose for your customers and provide an OpenCL implementation (layered on top of CUDA for all I care). This will ensure more inter-compatibility with other hardware and allow NVIDIA owners to run standardized OpenCL code.

Won't buy nvidia, won't recommend nvidia as long as OpenCL doesn't get first class support on Nvidia.
I don't have the braincycles to waste to learn a proprietary language just for one vendor.

NVIDIA needs to support OpenCL 1.2 and 2.0 (when released). We are specifically avoiding purchase of NVIDIA hardware until this is resolved.

NVIDIA needs support OpenCL because is is open standard such as OpenGL for graphics programming. It is not a threat for CUDA but natural enlargement of existed development environment.
