We the undersigned respectfully request that the Goodrich Quality Theaters corporate management reinstate opening captioning in their Eastside 9 theater on a weekly basis. We the undersigned are both hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals. As hearing individuals signing this petition, we do not mind the "intrusion" of open captions during a movie. We also understand that, given the hundreds of movie showings offered each week at the Eastside 9, it is not an inconvenience to choose a showtime without OC should we have a problem with it. As deaf and hard of hearing individuals signing this petition, we only want to experience the excitement and joy of going to the movie theater, an experience that has been a fundamentally American pastime since the creation of the motion picture. The current policy of once-a-month screenings on Saturday morning is exclusive and limiting at best, and discrimination at worst. Please respect the rights and wishes of hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing customers by reinstating open captioning on a weekly basis at the Lafayette Eastside 9 Cinema. Thank You.
