Hmmm... a 1914 Army Corps of Engineers Tactical Map indicating the publicly travelled portion of Ridge Road that ran along the western side of what used to be Hickory Creek... a Frierson and a Lee on the Board back in the day... Asa McQueen Road (and a bridge) built by Friersons and Lees to meet up with Ridge Road... a shiny new highway completed in 1966 (59) that drew traffic and attention away from Ridge Road... a disregarded letter penned in 1978 that demanded the removal of gates that had been installed across Ridge Road... 39 years later the attention is aimed back to the very bottom of this county, and there is one holdout... someone should write a book!

Irma Frierson's Grandfather was my Great Uncle Albert Alsobrooks. Some have asked the connection. There's also a Kellar connection. Brothers married sisters. It gets complicated. My Great Grandparents, Willie and Bertie Carbonette, owned and operated the store/gas station at the "Y", the intersection of Ridge Road, Hwy 607, and Texas Flat. My Great Grandfather Leonard Alsobrooks, Albert's brother, owned 600 acres on Ridge Road. I learned to hunt as a kid there, drove my first car on that road. It is still, literally and figuratively, in my back yard. It is a part of me. Take down that gate!

I am asking people to sign this petition to have the gate removed on Ridge Road. My parents Irma and T.J. Frierson have owned land off of Ridge Road since the mid 50's. We were raised on this land and there is a lot of fond memories there. We would still be there if not for the test site. My mother is 86 years old and is not able to open nor should she be expected to open a large gate, that is located on U.S. Government land, to get to her property. that she has owned and paid taxes on since the mid 1950's. My Dad grew up with this road being a public road,this is where his roots are the road was suppose to be kept public so the people that got moved out by NASA could go and remeness their old property sights so nobody should have put gates up when it's buffer zone property
