We call on the Government of Sri Lanka to modernize the public transport system by introducing a unified prepaid card service for both government (SLTB) and private buses.

This system would:

• Enhance convenience and transparency for passengers
• Reduce reliance on cash transactions
• Improve operational efficiency for transport providers
• Enable better data tracking for service planning and optimization

Countries across Asia and beyond have successfully adopted smart fare systems. It’s time for Sri Lanka to move toward a cashless, efficient, and commuter-friendly transport future.
