Open Letter to the St. Andrew’s School Board
Dear St. Andrew’s Board Members,
We, the undersigned parents of St. Andrew’s students, are deeply concerned about the sudden and unexplained dismissal of its Head of School, Mr. Doug Tooke. This abrupt change has created instability and uncertainty for our children and school community.
The lack of transparency has already fueled many rumors among parents and students—contrary to the mission and principles of a Catholic school, which should model truth, charity, and respect. St. Andrew’s motto is to “hang one’s life on the truth.” We ask the board to uphold this by being truthful and transparent.
We request an emergency after school meeting within the week open to all parents, board members, and faculty to address:
- Why was Mr. Tooke not allowed to complete the school year?
- Why have students, parents, and Mr. Tooke not been given a chance to say goodbye?
- What steps will ensure stability and a peaceful transition for students?
- If financially motivated, what is the school’s current financial position?
- When will the board share results of its promised “comprehensive review of finances”?
A similar mid-year leadership change in 2019 by the former Board of Directors, with similar lack of transparency, nearly closed the school, and drove many families away. For healthy continuity of the school, we cannot allow history to repeat itself.
Please notify all parents via email and the parent portal with the meeting date and time, giving at least one day’s notice.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
Cordially Signed,
Concerned St. Andrew’s Parents
