Truly representing women requires acknowledgment of their biology, and role models being presented to young girls of women who have overcome the fact that their voices are not equally represented in the arts.

Please give this slot to a woman in the film industry. Your need for diversity is excluding women. I have a subscription on Amazon prime with you guys and will cancel it if this goes ahead.

Munroe Berdorf is not a film maker. His selection as keynote speaker is merely pandering to TRA.

People who are born male do not represent women or their experiences. The only difference between men and women is biology yet it is their biology that disadvantages women.

An insult to women film makers and a deliberate slap in the face to women interested in film, made even worse by one of the most patronising and condescending statements about audiences I have ever read.

This is such an inappropriate decision when there are so few women in film. Huge respect to any who have stuck with it and forged a career for themselves. They should be supported by being given more of a voice.

Seriously getting sick of this. A feminised man is not a woman. Of all the wonderful women you could have chosen you went with MB. It’s incredibly insulting that BFI thinks that a male who has feminised himself is qualified to represent women. What an earth are you thinking?

Shameful behaviour. Munroe is a MAN, he may be able to speak for Transpeople, but he can NEVER speak for WOMEN.

Why is a person with no experience of film-making or being a woman in the film industry giving the keynote speech? Were there no women with the relevant experience even considered?

I have been a member for some years, and I am annually disappointed by the diminishing presence of lesbians in your Flare season, and now this lazy muddle which strategically puts male privilege front and centre, and women filmmakers in the shadows. Unbelievable.

There are deserving women who could use to be elevated and you choose a high profile racist and sexist non filmmaker. Just stop.

There are truly talented women in film. One of them should have been invited to open the laudable “woman with a movie camera “

I'm a post operative Trans woman of over 30 years. I don't think someone who has not had her surgery nor lived as a woman should be in any platform talking about being a woman. She is not a woman with a penis.
A worthy cause.
