I have always been proud to be a Franklin alum and cherish the community I had there that endures today, but this is totally unacceptable. I'm disgusted and devastated.

I am disheartened to hear of this event. There is absolutely no way this kind of behavior from a faculty member can be justified. I, along with many others, urge the administration to immediately remove this man from the Ben Franklin community.

The teachers responsible for this type of teaching environment should be held accountable (notably, Brendan Gonzalez and Coach Ryan). This is not the first time racist accurances have happened, but let this set an example for being held accountable for their actions. This is not the Franklin I pride myself in. This is not the community I want to represent. Hopefully that will change.

Franklin is supposed to be a leading school in education and diversity, yet the video of what happened between Coach Ryan and Derrick shows the complete opposite. I worked alongside Derrick on Student Council for several years and know him well, and I'm not at all surprised that he stuck up for himself and his peers. Derrick embodied the type of young leader Franklin should strive to educate, and not taking disciplinary action against the teacher involved would be completely insensitive and even potentially harmful. The Franklin community is better than this and the ignorance displayed by Coach Ryan should not be tolerated.

I was at the school all day today in support of my peers and as a representative of class of 2016. I am highly dissppointed at what has transpired.
