An Open Letter To Bishop McElroy to Re-Open San Diego Catholic Schools

I’m signing this petition because from the info I’ve reviewed from catholic school they are able to take the necessary precautions to open safely for students and teachers.

Please let us open our school! We've taken the appropriate safety measures and have precautions in place. We also have distance learning options available for those that choose that as the best option for their families. I'm begging you for my children's health, education, and mental wellbeing, they need to be with their peers and in front of their teachers who love them. Distance learning will be impactful, but not in the way intended. Please put yourself in the shoes of parents who need their kids to interact with other little kids and learn how to function in society. I can't emphasize enough how critical this is for little boys in particular. Enough studies have been done to show the negative impact of social isolation on boys. Please don't do this to our sons. Let them go to school! I am happy to sign any waiver necessary to precipitate this, thank you!

Please allow kids to return to in person school this year. They need this interaction to thrive.

The very idea of distance-learning is apalling and Orwellian. Enough. The time has come to reclaim our God-given freedom. Only through His grace can children and families begin to heal from the colossal damage already done. Please, be leaders in this healing.

This should not be a political issue, open the schools, the kids are not spreaders of this disease . Stop playing games with our children’s future. You have already failed the flock by not standing up for our rights to worship , it’s time you stood up for the future of our Catholic children . If teachers are concerned , they can wear protective gear or retire! Hire young new teachers eager to enrich our children . Enough is enough our children are already falling behind and should not be a pawn for political gain. Distance learning is no way for children to learn and thrive. Parents have multiple children at home all at different levels and ages, even some starting kindergarten. Do you honestly think they will sit a computer for the length of time you are prescribing? How is a parent suppose to coordinate multiple children’s schedule when some can’t even operate a computer ? My guess is that there’s probably even catholic school teachers that are being asked to teach their class while dealing with their own children and this idiotic idea of “distance learning”. Are you insane!!!! Do you not see the insanity of this ? It’s inconceivable that you would even think that this is an acceptable way of educating our children. Studies have proven that kids have a very low risk. Parents have to work so they can pay your tuition and not to mention be able to give donation to the church. It’s time to step up and be a shepherd and stand up for those who have supported the church and want their kids to return to school. May God Bless you and give you the ability to discern what’s right and fight for our children.
