Open Letter to the AAP

Transsexual man here to support!

I am a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience and I agree that we are treating gender dysphoria like no other mental health diagnosis. We do not go solely on self-diagnosis of a child or adolescent for any other conditions. We do extensive rule outs. We should be more cautious especially when this involves sterilization, introducing harmful hormones, and removing otherwise healthy organs. In no other instance would a young person be allowed to make these decisions.

Children's lives are at stake. Please do more thorough research before issuing a statement regarding a position that is putting our children at great risk.

Please stop affirming children. It is a real crime and child abuse.

Please stop the women-erasing fictions that transgender represents.

We need more of these petitions and more platforms to save our children.

My anxious, awkward daughter decided she must be a boy during her 10th grade year,. She still struggles with self worth as do 3of her friends from childhood, all using male pronouns.

Unethical to sterilize children Figure out a healthier way to assist children with dysphoria like allowing them to be who they are w/o chemicals, amputation, castration.

As the mother of a child who ID as trans for a while but desisted when given some counter arguments, please rethink affirmation only

It is not bigoted to want medical staff to treat children with caution and long term care, not quick fix medical diagnostics

These fast-tracked affirmations with medical intervention and surgeries, are destroying young lives and their families.

It is completly unethical to railroad youngsters into decisions they later regret. Please retract your statement and bring back the gatekeeping method to help minimize regret.

Please don't change fundamental scientific fact (male and female), on the whims of what is only a popular cultural standard. Thank you.

My autistic daughter is very vulnerable and susceptible to ideas online. The last thing she needs is professionals blindly endorsing such ideas, and not bothering to explore what her discomfort actually is as opposed to what she thinks it might be. In what other field do children (including those with potentially diminished mental capacity) have such a say (influenced by social media) over their medical treatment? We love our kids and just want medical professionals to treat them with caution and care, rather than jumping to conclusions.

I wholeheartedly agree. My granddaughter feels that she is trangeder and we love her and support her in all she does...!!!

Thank you. My daughter is on the autism spectrum and can be influenced easily by her peers. Parents are seen as narrow minded when they question abnormal gender behaviors. You have put my mind at ease.

I read a piece that the AAP has distorted scientific studies about gender dysphoria in children. Are they free to just do that? I don't think so. What's wrong with this organisation? The American left seems to be the equivalent of the religious right that distorts studies on homosexuality.

More research is needed to be sure children are treated safely . Please retract the AAP statement
