A politically sponsored academic program or position - let alone an entire department - goes against the UC's mission of public education, academic freedom and all sorts of things.

This flies in the face of all that academia represents. If your university agrees to these donors prerequisites a terrible precedent will be set which will damage academic credibility. It will cause much harm to the pursuit of peace in a region which has suffered for centuries from interference by colonial forces. Please do not allow these discriminatory proposals to poison the well of knowledge to which all academics seek to contribute without fear or favour.
