Open Harvest has changed a lot in recent years, harboring more toxicity not only in the environment but also in the food that is offered. There is more meat being offered, and the food is not reliably organic. The environment is not one of inclusivity where the community comes first as it once was (or so I have heard) instead it has shifted its focus to profit. Open harvest is the heart of the community, I would love to see it act like it!

I stand in solidarity with current past employees. As a previous employee, I was wrongfully terminated and sexually harassed by my manager for months while working there.

Proper inclusivity training is a must in every field, big or small. It will only create a more positive environment for all employees and customers.

I have met some of the most incredible, kind, supportive people by working at Open Harvest. I was proud to be an employee, and proud of the values I thought we all held collectively. Within those couple years, there was so much toxicity, management (food service specifically) talking badly about to their staff to other fellow staff members. Obvious favoritism, obvious targeting, public shaming, complete disorganization and passing the blame to unqualified level 1 staff. The relationship between the GM and certain managers clouded what I previously thought was good judgment. I was scared of losing my job by speaking up, and I was scared of losing my job by not speaking up. I saw a lot of great people leave because empathy and general respect were no longer core values. Individuality and creativity were no longer desired traits, and people with passion were beat down emotionally until they gave in or gave up. -E

Open Harvest management has repeatedly failed to act on their promises to staff when they bring up concerns. It’s a shame that a valuable community organization treats their employees like this.
