The CMS community implores the Board of Education to implement an “Open Enrollment” Lottery where districted students would be enrolled first, followed by an “open enrollment” period on a “first come/first served” basis for the Open Enrollment lottery. This type of lottery is only accessible to new schools and within the first 1-3 years of opening. The Board of Education and Dr. Jones should make every effort to increase enrollment at the brand new, state of the art facility. We urge them to consider this option.

Fill the new school with the passion the CMS teachers bring every day. Don't cut staff members but rather redistrict, set a lottery, make it a magnet school for creative and fine arts, or sciences. Bring the students and they will thrive.
The only reason Central’s population went down was that some parents didn’t want their children around construction. Most parents will want their kids in a new school.
There is no goal more important than maintaining the highest of standards for the education of our children. I strongly encourage the Board to support and advance the Open Enrollment Lottery for CMS
As a former CMS parent, I strongly support "Open Enrollment" at CMS. Many students that are districted for CMS have been permitted to matriculate at EMS and WMS over the past few years, EMS and WMS students should have the same opportunity to attend the brand new CMS if they want.
I support lottery seats and ask that this take place in advance of the Spring 2026 parent orientation meetings and ES/MS staff bridging meetings.

I’m signing this petition not just as a former student and teacher, but as a professional advocate who has seen firsthand what makes Central Middle School exceptional. I attended CMS as a student and later returned as a special education teacher, working across all three grades. Many of the teachers who still work there today shaped my own education and later became my colleagues and friends. As CMS prepares to open a brand new school building, it’s more important than ever that we retain the incredible educators who create the strong, family-like environment that defines this community. Supporting our teachers and expanding open enrollment will help ensure that CMS enters this next chapter with the stability and student population it needs to thrive.
