as an architecture and social planning student in Baltimore, I have researched a lot about the social design and planning situation in Baltimore. Organization like Boone Street Farm are exactly what Baltimore needs. Urban farms are a proven method of both sustainable practice in a city environment, and an important source of education and community. As a city, and greater community, we can't let programs like these cease, in fact, we need more of them.

In addition to the obvious benefits of urban farming (such as providing awareness of the food supply, and providing food to the immediate area) urban farms such as this also helpto mitigate crime and provide skills for under served youth.
