This is such an exciting time for us as Cairn breeders. With the development of social networking, being able to see and hear all about competitions from around the world, it is exciting and inspiring. And let’s not forget informative. No longer can we cling to an "Outdated Standard". We must take our place on the world stage as leaders rather than a separate group of breeders of a Cairn that is not worthy to compete. This debate has been looming like a dark cloud over our membership for nearly a century. Why should depth of quality not be present at every all-breed show as well as at our Cairn Terrier specialties. Our judges and peers should demand it, and we as breeders must fight to change the ever-present confusion our "Standard" causes our judges, contestants, spectators and pet owners. “I find it reprehensible that the US is the only country that ignores the fact that the rest of the world has unified on our breed's standard”. ~ A quote from a respected Cairn breeder as well as terrier judge Please participate in this petition by asking our Board of Governors to allow us to unify with the world in having one Cairn Terrier standard. One World, One Cairn. Please show your support by signing and sending in your vote in favor of the U.S. joining the rest of the world in breeding the FCI Standard.

The feedback I have received from fellow breeders highlights a genuine hunger for clarity in our current standards. I am spending my time gathering these perspectives into a formal document to present to the Board of Governors. This transition toward a unified global vision is proving to be a necessary step for the future of the breed.

The reach of this petition has surpassed my initial expectations and the depth of agreement among breeders is truly heartening. It is clear that the desire to align our standards with the global community is a sentiment shared by many who care deeply for this breed. This momentum suggests we are approaching a point where the governing board will have no choice but to acknowledge the necessity of this transition.

Its time to get on the same page. The confusion at shows is ridiculous and makes us look like we dont know our own breed.

My cairns are wonderful dogs but competing is a nightmare when the rules make zero sense compared to everyone else.

The US standard is so outdated. Lets join the rest of the world and make things fair for everyone involved.
