Calton Road is a busy, congested road where traffic particularly becomes a problem when Ribston Hall High School and Calton Primary finish at similar times during the afternoon on weekdays. The volume of traffic at these times is potentially dangerous to young school children, and the congestion causes chaos on the road.

To counteract this, we propose turning Calton Road into a one way street with various benefits:

To increase traffic flow and potentially reduce traffic congestion.

The street is too narrow for movement in both directions and the road users unable to cooperate.

To calm traffic.

To eliminate turns that involve crossing in front of oncoming traffic.

Better traffic flow in built-up areas where road widening may not be feasible.
