One Last Summer at Camp Winding River

I can with 100% confidence tell you I would not be half the person I am today without camp. I have learned how to love myself, others, and nature. I seriously have made friends here that I know will last. Camp was so critical is allowing me to be who I am. Camp taught me patience and it showed me that I want to be helping kids as my career. Camp shaped my childhood and continued to shape me into my early adulthood. I got my final camp taken from me. I now have come to understand that and realize it will be okay, but for all the young girls, trying to find their way, trying to understand why suddenly all the wonderful things they love to do just stopped. I cannot help but feel and fight for their camp experience just one more time. They deserve it. They deserve that chance to understand themselves, make new friends, get new experience they would never otherwise get! Please just let them be a kid for a little while longer.

Please choose to put our daughters’ best interest in mind. Camp was taken from her last year, a year that was supposed to be her leadership role at camp. Please allow her the opportunity and closure that she earned & deserves at CWR in 2021.

This place means so much to my girls. Some have made so many memories here, and one is just beginning to. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law have attended Camp Winding River for many years. It is very confusing why you would get rid of a property that is used so much, and is so beloved.

My wife has told me soooo many stories from her time there as a girl. She has been looking forward to our daughter’s first year at camp. That would have been this year. Covid has destroyed her dream of sharing her amazing memories with our daughter due to the camp’s unexpected closure. Please allow at least one more year!

Please don't close the camp! I spent 12 years volunteering at the camp and saw many friendships formed and upgrades to the grounds.

Camp means the world to me. Just a chance to have a good bye would be a lot of closure for me and so many others.
