Every year the Chicago Public Library selects a book for the One Book, One Chicago program. The program encourages all Chicago residents to read and discuss the same book. While the current and past selections have all been excellent choices, it is time to select a book that will get Chicago talking about what we need to know to change our city, state, and country. The 2010 book, "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness" by Michelle Alexander offers a detailed analysis of the crisis currently facing our country.
