My family long have a history with Union, that goes back to its founding in 1919. We are also desended from two Cherokee cheifs. We are proud of our heritage and of our school. Some see the mascot as offensive, others like myself and my family who are Native people. See the mascot as a symbol of pride and honor for all the tribes that make up Oklahoma. Oklahoma is that Choctaw word for Home of the Red. If we don't draw the line in the sand here, the very name of our fine state will be next to come under the firing line. Redskin for life!!!!!
