This plan is less than optimal for the students of Arlington for all of the reasons listed on the petition. Please reconsider this short-sighted endeavor.

Arlington parent and tax payer. My current middle schooler has commented that students currently are sitting in the floor during lunch due to lack of space/seating.

Gibbs is the most sensible choice for the middle school problem in Arlington.

While I am not opposed to a large school in theory, I don't hear any specific justification as to why this plan would serve the kids best. How would the town staff the school with sufficient teachers and staff to retain the quality the kids deserve? How would gym, lunch, etc. be handled (Thompson surely taught us that this has to be a consideration). How would 30% more kids get to and from the building on busses that are already over capacity? Most importantly, how is this option in the best interest of the students? Tell me *specifics* and I might be willing to listen, but right now there is almost nothing in the plan that suggests this is a superior option to the others.

The Gibbs School should be the second middle school in Arlington. No real construction required.

Please let's not make short-sighted decisions. We do not want to have the largest, or even one of the largest, middle schools in MA. We didn't sell Gibbs so it would be available should we ever need to use it for an overcrowding situation. Well, here we are. It is time.

This idea is just crazy. And they are the one's with all the degrees and this is the solution..We've had 2 kids that went through the Ottoson and one more kid in a few more years. When you are driving, have you seen those signs that says, " please drive as if your children lives around the neighborhood?" I want to say to DR Bodie, "please think as if your kids goes to our schools." Its not just a boo boo and covering it with a band aid..

Having middle school in Gibbs building is also beneficial for kids living in heights, Ottosan is already crowded and I'm sure it would be hard for many kids and teachers.
