Charter School Board and Administration, Day by day more children are getting sick and hospitalized day by day nation wide. Unless this situation clears up request you to consider to allow students opting to take virtual classes to protect themselves against contagious virus

This is actually serious. Charter Board and Admin, this is a serious plea to switch to the virtual setting for at least a few weeks. Our kids should not be subject to a school environment where kids constantly walk around with their masks below their noses (yes, my kid told me this don’t think I don’t know). There needs to be serious consequences for kids who don’t wear their masks properly, teachers should NOT be letting it go. So please switch to a virtual setting for the safety of our children

As a healthcare worker who is on the frontlines everyday, I am able to witness firsthand the chaos of the extremely contagious variant. The spike caused from the holiday season due to people gathering will be much more prevalent in the coming days. My advice as a professional in this field is that it is probably best to make a virtual option available to the students for at least two weeks.

We look to you, Dr. Johnson and Charter Admin, to seriously consider the severe consequences that Omicron can cause. Even if you're vaccinated (which you should be) the virus is extremely contagious and we don't want an outbreak to happen. Please, seriously consider switching to virtual school or a hybrid situation. - Concerned Parent

First of all, I would like to recognize the students who brought this important issue up to my attention. As the President of the Charter School of Wilmington, I firmly acknowledge that it is my responsibility to put the health of all students, faculty and community members as first priority and I would like you all to know that, on behalf of the Board, we are taking your concerns very seriously and will be making this decision in the best interests of the entire community.

as a CCSA student, i am also incredibly concerned and as we’re all breathing the same air and passing each other in the halls between classes, i hope this passes. we all deserve to feel safe at school or at the very least we need more options for the students who don’t feel safe.

Virtual/independent learning should be an option for those who want it and being fully vaccinated should be a prerequisite to coming to school at all (as it is for literally every other vaccine).
